LO RES CAR
//// Winner of the 2016 Wallpaper Design Award and an iconic part of United Nude's DNA
The Lo Res Car made its debut in the Lo Res Project, which is a signature concept for the brand. The Lo Res design method is based on the principle of re-designing the same object in a series, each time lowering the 3D resolution, resulting in a more fragmented and abstract design each step of the way. The Lo Res Car shape came from lowering the 3D resolution of the iconic Lamborghini Countach, a Marcello Gandini (at Bertone) design from the early seventies.
The vehicle can be described as a conceptual design experiment, rather than a conventional car.
With two in-line seats, the passenger sits behind the driver. Gliding down the streets inside its polycarbonate transparent capsule provides a unique driving experience. The electric drivetrain is currently limited to 50 km/h and the car itself is not street legal, as this would have compromised its experimental and radical design.
THE UNITED NUDE LO RES CAR REACHES 50 MILLION VIEWS IN RICH THE KID FT. KENDRICK LAMAR “NEW FREEZER” MUSIC VIDEO
After winning a Wallpaper Magazine Design Award in 2016, the Lo Res Car has literally been making its way around the world, all the while multiplying in numbers. The total head count of vehicles now reaches four and after being featured in exhibitions and films, the Lo Res Car has finally made its debut in Hip-Hop with the Rich The Kid’s “New Freezer” music video.
Rem D Koolhaas, Creative Director and Founder of United Nude: “Being part of this video production was a great experience. It was about experimentation and pushing boundaries, so I felt at home. And in Rich The Kid’s latest single he raps about driving a Space Coupe. For me, he’s totally rapping about this car ;).”
